The massive stone walls, constructed from roughly hewn blocks, rise prominently on the left side of the frame. A conical, slate-tiled tower, part of the fortification, is visible in the upper left corner. Further along the wall, crenellated towers and battlements can be seen, interspersed with smaller turrets. The moat, a deep, dry ditch, occupies the right side of the image, its slopes covered with dry, sparse vegetation and some scattered green growth. In the distance, beyond the walls, a cityscape with houses and buildings is visible under an overcast sky. The overall impression is one of historical grandeur and formidable defense.
