MoynaqUzbekistan

A circular decorative wall hanging, approximately 40-50 cm in diameter, is affixed to a plain light grey wall in Moynaq, Uzbekistan. The central surface displays a traditional Uzbek ikat pattern in red, blue, yellow, and white, encircled by a blue and white braided border. Applied to this surface are raised cardstock cut-outs creating a three-dimensional effect. These include two cartoon-style figures positioned centrally: a boy in a brown jacket and black skullcap holding a patterned disc, and a girl in a colorful striped dress and matching skullcap holding a small bowl containing a dish. Four additional cut-outs depicting traditional Uzbek dishes are distributed around the figures: a white bowl of plov with meat and white legumes at the upper left, a plate of four round flatbreads (non) with a central indentation below the boy, a bowl of numerous small golden-brown pastries (samsa or manty) at the upper right, and a plate of several grilled meat skewers (shashlik) at the bottom center. The assembly is evenly illuminated, casting minor shadows.
