The image depicts two elephants within an outdoor, semi-covered enclosure in Baan Thurian, Thailand
Short TermThe image depicts two elephants within an outdoor, semi-covered enclosure in Baan Thurian, Thailand. A large Asian elephant, the primary subject, stands in the foreground, facing the viewer with its trunk hanging downwards. Its skin is dark grey with numerous depigmented, pinkish-beige spots visible on its forehead, face, ears, and trunk. Its left eye is clearly visible. To the left and slightly behind, a second elephant is partially visible, showing its head, back, and a front leg, also exhibiting similar skin coloration. Both elephants are contained by a multi-bar metal fence, constructed from cylindrical posts and horizontal bars, exhibiting some wear and chipped paint. The ground within the enclosure is a mixture of light brown compacted earth and scattered gravel. Above the elephants, a sloped roof structure, supported by dark beams and a central vertical pole, provides shade. The underside of the roof is constructed from rectangular, light-brown panels, possibly oriented strand board. In the mid-ground, between the two elephants and behind the fence, a rectangular sign with illegible text, including the phrase "OUR PROJECT," is mounted against a green background structure. Beyond the enclosure, lush green trees and foliage are visible, along with a white concrete or painted barrier in the distant background. A small section of bright sky is visible in the upper left corner of the frame, peeking through the roof structure. Both elephants are standing idly.
