The snail's textured, light brown body with extended eyestalks is partially on a patch of dark, sandy soil and partially on a collection of dried plant debris. The soil area, occupying the left and upper portions of the image, is strewn with various organic materials including dark wood chips, dried pine needles, and other plant fragments. Additionally, several narrow, dark, fragmented strips of an indeterminate material are visible within the soil on the left. Adjacent to the snail, and growing along the edge between the soil and the paved surface, is a sparse cluster of green, reedy vegetation. The second ground surface, a light gray, coarse-textured concrete pavement, forms a diagonal boundary across the right and lower parts of the image. The entire environment is illuminated by strong daylight, evidenced by the pronounced shadows cast by the snail, vegetation, and the pavement edge. No people are present.
