The image depicts a wide view of the 25 de Abril Bridge spanning the Tagus River under an overcast sky, observed from the city of Almada, Portugal, looking towards Lisbon. The sky occupies the upper half of the frame and is uniformly covered by grey, dense clouds, indicating an overcast condition without direct sunlight. The bridge, a large suspension structure with two prominent reddish-brown steel towers, extends horizontally across the middle ground. Its main cables are visible, from which numerous vertical suspender cables support the bridge deck. Vehicles, including what appears to be a truck, are discernible on the upper deck of the bridge. Below the bridge is a wide body of water, the Tagus River, exhibiting a grey-green coloration with visible ripples on its surface. Several vessels are present on the water: at least three white-sailed sailboats are distributed across the scene, and a larger, dark-hulled cargo ship or barge is anchored or moving near the far bank. The far bank reveals the densely built cityscape of Lisbon, characterized by numerous buildings of varying heights and styles ascending a hillside. Prominently featured on this distant shore are multiple tall, red gantry cranes associated with a port facility. A large, modern building with a distinctive roof is visible on the left side of the distant bank, near the bridge's approach. In the immediate foreground, rising from the bottom edge of the frame, are three metallic poles equipped with lights or sensors. These poles are positioned on what appears to be a pier or embankment. One pole on the right side also has a white rectangular sign attached. No specific human figures or detailed actions are discernible on the bridge, boats, or distant cityscape.
