Its eyes are distinctly white with black pupils. The back and wings display iridescent blue-green plumage, with several distinct black spots visible on the wing coverts. A clean white band separates the iridescent blue-green from the rufous orange-brown plumage covering its lower breast and belly. The tail feathers are dark blue to black.
