Branches with small leaves and some reddish catkins or seeds extend from the top left, while slender green leaves of what appears to be a willow tree extend into the frame from the mid-right. The main subject is a calm body of water, possibly a pond or lake. Its surface reflects the blue sky and white clouds, particularly in the lower half of the image. Patches of green aquatic vegetation are floating on the water's surface, concentrated in the mid-left and central areas. The water in the lower third of the image is clear enough to reveal submerged vegetation and what appears to be a light-colored, sandy or rocky bottom. Ripples are visible on parts of the water surface. A single, light-colored duck is swimming on the water near the left edge of the frame, about one-third of the way down from the top.
