The image depicts a fresco on the interior wall of what appears to be a small chapel or alcove. The fresco is divided into three main sections. The central panel features a depiction of the Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus, with an inscription below them. Flanking this central panel are two larger figures painted in a more austere style. The figure on the left appears to be a man in historical attire, possibly a nobleman or saint, wearing a cap and a long, draped cloak. The figure on the right is a muscular, nude or semi-nude male figure, with legs bent as if in motion. The ceiling above is also frescoed with celestial imagery, including clouds and what appear to be stars. In the foreground, a white ledge or altar holds several potted plants. The plants on the left are leafy and green with white variegation, while the plants on the right are more sprawling with purple and green striped leaves and small pinkish-purple flowers. The architectural style suggests an older building, possibly with some Renaissance or Baroque influences. This fresco is located in the Chapel of the Crucifix, within the Church of San Francesco in Pescia, Italy.
