The image captures the intricately detailed stone facade of the Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Spyridon in Trieste, Italy, viewed from a low, upward perspective on a clear, bright day. The building is constructed of light-colored, possibly marble or limestone, in horizontal courses, featuring multiple tiers of architectural and artistic elements. At the highest visible point, a small circular mosaic depicts the Virgin Mary and Child, flanked by decorative relief work. Below this, a large mosaic panel is integrated into the upper facade, divided into two main sections by two arched windows with geometric pane designs. The left mosaic section portrays two male saints, identified by Cyrillic text as St. Andrew and St. John, both in flowing robes and holding scrolls. The right mosaic section similarly depicts two male saints, identified as St. Matthew and St. Luke, also in robes and holding scrolls. Below these mosaics, a frieze of five white marble statues stands within individual arched niches. These full-figure statues depict male saints in draped garments, each with distinct postures; some appear to hold books or scrolls. The central feature of the lower facade is a grand arched entrance portal. The archway is profusely decorated with relief carvings featuring floral, geometric, and figural motifs, including what appear to be winged cherubs above the arch. Within the tympanum of this arch, a golden mosaic depicts a haloed male saint in full episcopal vestments (miter, omophorion), holding a closed Gospel book in his left hand and raising his right hand in a gesture of blessing. Cyrillic text identifies him as St. Spyridon. Flanking the main entrance, large inscriptions in Cyrillic script are carved into the stone walls. The inscription on the right side is clearly legible and quotes Psalm 134, verses 1-2, stating: "Praise the name of the Lord, praise the Lord, servants, you who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God." The corresponding inscription on the left wall is partially obscured but follows a similar script and style. At ground level, dark wooden double doors are set into the entrance recess. A white metal fence with pointed finials extends across the foreground, providing a barrier. Two ornate, green-patinated street lamps are positioned on either side of the entrance, behind the fence. The sky above is a uniform, clear light blue.
