A decorative facade ornament is mounted on a yellow building exterior in Innsbruck, Austria

InnsbruckAustria

A decorative facade ornament is mounted on a yellow building exterior in Innsbruck, Austria. The ornament features a central oval painting depicting the Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus, crowned with a golden crown. Two putti, or cherubic figures, flank the painting, one on each side. Below the painting is an inscription in Gothic script that reads: "Maria, Mutter der Gnade, Beschirme unsere Pfade, Beschirme dieses Haus und alle, die gehen ein u. aus." This translates to "Mary, Mother of Grace, protect our paths, protect this house and all who enter and exit." The entire relief is rendered in white stucco and is ornately detailed with scrollwork and floral motifs. Two windows are visible on the yellow wall; one to the left, with dark wooden frames and multiple panes, reflects trees and sky. Another window, partially visible on the right, also has dark framing. A white architectural element, likely a window frame or corner molding, runs vertically along the left side of the image. The building's wall has a textured, stucco finish.
