The eyes are detailed with dark pupils and irises that appear to have lighter blue and brown accents. The mouth is slightly open, revealing the suggestion of teeth. The hair is depicted with wavy lines of brown and red tesserae, and a band of blue and black tesserae runs across the top of the head, possibly representing a diadem or headdress. The mosaic is part of an archaeological find in Kos, Greece, specifically from the Casa Romana (Roman House) in the city of Kos.
