The scene depicts a railway line passing under a stone arch bridge in the coastal area of Braehead of Lunan, United Kingdom. Two parallel railway tracks on gravel ballast run left-to-right beneath the single arch of the bridge, which is constructed from reddish-brown brick around the arch opening and lighter grey-brown hewn stone blocks for the main structure, exhibiting signs of age and weathering including moss and lichen growth. Above the railway, a steep embankment is densely covered with tangled, bare, dormant thorny bushes and sparse dry grass. A wooden fence line runs along the top of this embankment, partially obscured.
