This is a medium shot, eye-level, vertical photograph of a gilded bronze statue of Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory, against a clear, deep blue sky. The statue stands atop a pedestal, a portion of which is visible at the bottom of the frame. Victoria is depicted with large, outstretched wings, her right arm raised, holding a laurel wreath or olive branch, and her left arm bent, holding a second object that resembles a small statue or trophy. Her flowing robes are highly detailed, catching the light and creating highlights and shadows. The overall impression is one of grandeur and achievement. This statue is known as the Friedensengel (Angel of Peace) and is located on the Friedensengel hill in Munich, Germany, marking the end of the Maximiliansanlagen park. A small, dark bird is perched on the side of the pedestal.
