This is a medium-shot, high-angle, full-color photograph of an active quarry in Kwang, Nigeria, under a cloudy sky. The quarry features massive, terraced excavations of reddish-brown earth, with lighter, yellowish-beige rock formations visible at the upper levels. Several pools of murky, greenish water have accumulated at different depths within the quarry. In the middle ground, a yellow excavator with a black plume of smoke emanating from its exhaust is positioned on a lower tier of the quarry, its boom extended. Further back, a small number of figures, appearing as dark silhouettes, are visible on the upper rim of the quarry and near some structures. Some of these structures appear to be simple buildings under construction or storage units. A blue pipe is visible running down the side of one of the excavated walls.
