bronze bas-relief mounted on a yellow brick wall, situated outdoors

MaykopRussia

bronze bas-relief mounted on a yellow brick wall, situated outdoors. The artwork depicts a scene with two figures and various symbolic elements. In the foreground, on the left, a seated woman wearing traditional clothing and a headscarf is reaching towards a large pot or cauldron. She is holding a ladle. To the right, another seated woman, also in traditional attire and headscarf, holds a pitcher and a spoon, looking downwards towards the pot. Above the figures, the relief features stylized elements that suggest agricultural or domestic themes. There is a representation of plants, possibly fruits or vegetables, and a fish-like object. Above these, a chandelier-like structure with hanging elements is visible, and further up, stylized circular motifs resembling suns or stars with radiating lines are present within arched sections of the relief. The background of the relief is textured, creating a sense of depth and dimensionality. The bas-relief is mounted on a wall constructed of yellow, textured bricks. Below the wall, there is a concrete ground surface, part of which appears wet, reflecting light and showing some moss growth along the base of the wall. The overall impression is of an outdoor public art installation. This artwork is located in Maykop, Russia, on the facade of the National Museum of the Republic of Adygeya. The bas-relief is titled "Maternity" or "Motherhood" and was created by the sculptor V.G. Dronov. It symbolizes fertility, nurture, and the connection to nature and traditions.
