The image depicts a severely damaged urban landscape in Khan Yunis, Palestinian Territories, under clear daylight with a few scattered clouds. The primary subject is a large mosque, identified by an Arabic inscription on a building to its left as "Mosque of Sheikh Juma bin Khalifa Al Thani" (مسجد الشيخ جمعة بن خليفة آل ثاني). The mosque features a prominent dome and a minaret. Both the dome and the white-bricked walls of the mosque exhibit extensive damage, including numerous impact holes, missing sections of masonry, and exposed structural elements. Windows in the minaret and lower sections of the mosque appear shattered or boarded. In the foreground, to the left, a multi-story building is heavily damaged, with its upper section collapsed into a pile of rubble and exposed rebar. Its facade shows damage, and two rectangular windows with broken panes are visible. Beneath this building, an air conditioning unit is mounted on the wall. Scattered on the ground level, between the damaged buildings, several white, tarp-like tents are erected, indicating makeshift shelters. Another multi-story building, also appearing damaged, is partially visible in the background behind the foreground rubble. A dark, out-of-focus vertical element, possibly a cable or structural beam, partially obstructs the right side of the frame. No individuals are visible in the scene.
