close-up, top-down view of a section of a wasp nest, revealing numerous hexagonal cells
Momentclose-up, top-down view of a section of a wasp nest, revealing numerous hexagonal cells. Many of these cells contain developing wasp larvae or pupae. Some cells are capped with a light-colored, waxy material, while others are open, exposing the occupants within. The cells are constructed from a fibrous, brownish material, typical of wasp nests. The background is out of focus, but appears to be a continuation of the nest structure. The location is stated as Shiroko pole, Bulgaria.
