In the natural landscape of Kashka Suu, Kyrgyzstan, a steep, rocky cliff face is partially obscured by sunlight and shadow. The rock is predominantly grey with visible striations and fractures. Small patches of vegetation, including moss and various plants with green leaves and some with delicate pink flowers, are growing in the crevices and ledges of the rock. Two orange butterflies are the prominent subjects in the scene. One butterfly is positioned on a light-colored rock surface in the middle left of the frame, its wings spread open, displaying a pattern of orange with darker markings. Another butterfly, also orange, is visible on a rock surface in the upper right quadrant of the image, its wings also open. In the lower right corner, a third, smaller insect, appears to be a moth or a smaller butterfly, with darker coloration and visible antennae, is perched on a plant stem.
