spire of the Grote Kerk (Great Church) in Schiedam, Netherlands, viewed from below against a cloudy, grey sky
Momentspire of the Grote Kerk (Great Church) in Schiedam, Netherlands, viewed from below against a cloudy, grey sky. The spire is tall and pointed, with a dark grey, slate-like roof. At the very top, a weather vane with a cross is visible. Below the spire, the upper section of the church tower is visible, constructed of brick. There are Gothic architectural elements, including smaller spires and decorative pinnacles. A clock face is visible on one side of the tower, illuminated. Dark-leaved trees, with dense foliage, obscure the lower portions of the church tower and frame the scene on both sides, reaching up towards the sky. The overall impression is of an imposing architectural structure partially screened by natural elements under an overcast sky.
