This is a medium-shot, eye-level photograph of a large, green and gold statue of Guan Yu, a deified Chinese general. The statue is located in the city of Baan Hua Thanon, Thailand. Guan Yu is depicted with a red face, black beard, and elaborate golden armor. He is holding a golden book in his right hand and his left hand is resting on his beard. The statue sits on a black, multi-leveled pedestal. Below the statue, on the black pedestal, is an inscription in both Thai and English. The English inscription reads: "Guan Yu (160AD-219AD), otherwise known as Yunchang, was born in the region of Xiezhou of Hedong (a sub-district of present day of Yuncheng, Shanxi Province) and become a renowned general during the Three Kingdom era of China. Due to his outstanding civil and military talents as well as his virtues of loyalty and righteousness, he has been revered as a God of War, and worshipped as bodhisattva in the Mahayana Buddhism and as a guardian deity in Taoism." The sky behind the statue is cloudy and overcast. To the left of the statue, a portion of a reddish-orange tiled roof is visible.
