Short Term
La TaguaVenezuela

The image displays a classical sculpture depicting the Laocoön Group. The sculpture features a man, presumably Laocoön, and two youths entangled with serpents. Laocoön, the central and largest figure, is shown struggling with the serpents that are coiling around his body. He is muscular and appears to be in great distress. To his left, one youth, also entwined by a serpent, is being held by Laocoön. To his right, another youth is similarly struggling with a serpent. The figures are rendered with anatomical detail and dramatic expression, characteristic of Hellenistic art. The sculpture rests on a rectangular base. Above the sculpture, text in Spanish reads "La escultura del período Helenístico se caracteriza por el dramatismo, fuerza y dinar" which translates to "Hellenistic period sculpture is characterized by drama, strength, and dynamism." Below the sculpture, there is a label that reads "Laocoonte y sus hijos," meaning "Laocoön and his sons." The background is a plain white surface, typical of a page in a book or document. There is no visible indication of any location within the city of La Tagua, Venezuela.
